Network Engineer

Reporting to the Director of Advanced Engineering the Network Engineer is accountable for converting high-level designs, implementation and management into the overall project management service roadmap. He or she will be responsible for Level 3 support services including high-level escalation, troubleshooting and resolving network related issues.

The Network Engineer will work closely with the other staff members under the Advanced Engineer’s direction with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Work out of the Pittsburgh, PA Office
  • Positive, proactive, can-do attitude with ability to work alone as an individual, as a technical lead, and as a participant in a team environment
  • Build, design, and re-design customer networks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network related issues
  • Configure, install, upgrade and maintain routers, switches and firewalls
  • Implement voice, networking, and security projects
  • Provide Presales support for sales team on the follow:
    • Cisco network, security, and wireless products
    • Extreme Network, Juniper, Brocade, and Security Products
    • Fortigate Security Products
    • General Network Architecture
  • Handle calls from clients on current and possible projects
  • Remediate escalated client issues

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the Network Engineer is responsible for the following additional responsibilities and duties:

  • Assist the Advanced Engineering staff as needed with special projects and other duties.

College degree in Computer Science/ MIS preferred. 3+ years of relevant and significant industry experience may provide as a substitute for the education requirement.  CCNA certification required; CCNP recommended.


Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing, administering and managing LAN/WAN

  • Experience in supporting and troubleshooting large, complex LAN/WAN network
  • WAN technologies knowledge is a must (MPLS, IPVPN, MAN, T1, Ethernet/Fiber)
  • Extensive Experience with Cisco routing and switching infrastructure in a multi-protocol environment
  • Cisco Wireless controllers and access points
  • Ability to respond to on-call/on-site situations within required SLA parameters
  • Extensive administration experience with IP, DHCP, DNS
  • Knowledge of routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, etc.)
  • Experience with OPSEC/VPN technology
  • Experience with IPS/IDS, Firewall, DMZ, VPN, IPS, and Radius
